Making an Impact on the Community

The Geneva National Foundation was honored with the Community Betterment Impact Award from VISIT Lake Geneva, the city’s Chamber of Commerce, at its fall 2017 annual dinner. The award, which recognizes one organization each year that makes a significant contribution to the area’s quality of life, was accepted by GN Foundation president Pamela Chambers, owner of Geneva National Resort & Club and Lake Geneva resident.

For 11 years, the volunteer-run Foundation has backed the special needs community of Walworth County, providing for support organizations as well as individuals. At the award presentation, VISIT Lake Geneva’s CEO Ed Svitek highlighted some of the Foundation’s accomplishments, including the construction of Lakeland School’s Geneva National Aquatic Center as well as such recent donations as:

  • A passenger van for CA Counseling’s autism programming,

  • Commercial equipment for Inspiration Ministries,

  • Aquatic and musical therapies and equipment for Mercy Foundation’s Autism Support Fund,

  • A tumbling wheel for Bayside Athletics special needs gymnastics classes,

  • A slab roller and computer system for Studio 84, and

  • A pool lift chair for Lake Geneva’s YMCA.

Individual grants in the past few years have included a therapy dog, side-by-side adult tricycle, accessible swing set, wheelchair ramp, customized wheelchairs, and numerous therapeutic sessions and camps.

Most recently, the Foundation spearheaded the July 2017 Never Say Never Golf Outing, raising some $60,000 for the construction of an all-inclusive playground in Lake Geneva, with $12,500 earmarked for specific equipment pieces. With three legendary courses at their disposal, the Foundation typically hosts its fundraisers at Geneva National Resort & Club, which donates the required tee times. For the second year, however, the Foundation also will participate in the Santa Cause Tree Festival, a combined fundraiser at Gage Marine for 12 area charities.
