Our team works to ensure you get the most out of your game – on the range or out on the course.

RICK LESLIE
Teaching Professional

Instructor Bio:

A Certified PGA Professional and member of the Wisconsin PGA since 2000. Prior to becoming a PGA professional, I worked as an engineer after obtaining my IE degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering where I played on the baseball and golf teams. I’ve been teaching the game to both juniors and adults at various private clubs for 20 years, and I am passionate about my junior golf programs. While at Valley Lo Club in Glenview, IL I established one of the most successful and largest private club PGA Junior League Golf Programs in the country. I have also been a college golf coach as well, leading the Carthage College Women’s Golf team to a Division III National Ranking in my first year while serving as their Head Coach. In addition to serving as Director of Instruction for six years at Strawberry Creek in Kenosha, I also have extensive experience in golf course management and operations. I am a Level 2 TrackMan Certified Instructor with V1 Golf Video, Foresight and SAM Putting Lab experience. I continue to compete in Wisconsin PGA Section events, qualifiers and

Pro-Ams when time permits.

Teaching Philosophy:

My teaching philosophy changes with every student depending on their skill level, their physical abilities and limitations, and also their goals with the game. I truly believe that in order to maximize each individual student’s potential and enjoyment of the game, an instructor must be able to quickly develop a plan to do this based on observation and insights obtained throughout each lesson.  As an instructor, I  use this approach with every student whether they are skilled player or brand new to golf. I want my students to be comfortable and relaxed and know that I am a friend, simply working WITH them to help them enjoy the game of golf more, whatever this means to them as a player.

As a certified TPI Golf Fitness Instructor, my teaching philosophy will focus my students' mobility, stability, flexibility and overall physical fitness in relation to what they will be able to do with their full swing. I emphasize short game control and finesse shots, which directly relate to scoring. I will also address the mental training aspect of practice and the challenges of competition.

CHARLIE BROWN

cbrown@gnresort,com or 262.245.7012

Instructor Bio:

Charlie Brown is the Member Head Professional at Geneva National. I have been in the golf business all my life, starting with the summer of my junior year in high school when I served on the grounds crew at Johnson Park, a public facility. I then competed on the golf team at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where I majored in business management.  Upon graduation, I was encouraged by my boss to turn professional in 1991. I served my apprenticeship and attained my “Class A” PGA Membership in 1998, resulting in a joyful and eventful 20+ year professional career in the golf business. During this time, I have been fortunate to win numerous tournaments. I earned Wisconsin PGA Player of the Year in 2003, 2004, and 2006, which led to my being named Wisconsin PGA Player of the Decade 2000-2009.  I continue to compete and enjoy playing with and teaching golfers of all abilities and am particularly enthusiastic about helping Members bring their game to the next level.

Teaching Philosophy:

Since everyone is uniquely different, no two golf swings are the same.

Every golfer has their own strengths and weaknesses. In order for my instruction to be effective, I take into consideration your body type, personality, learning style, skill level, and your goals.

To help you improve your game, I address the full swing, short game, putting, practice, course management, and mental aspects of the game.

My strengths as an instructor are my overall knowledge of the game and its technical aspects, my playing experience, communication, and patience during your learning development. I take pride in being able to communicate a somewhat complex concept in a simple manner.
